TÆT – Pulsar-23 Mastery

Huge congrats to Errorgrid label-mate Taet who has just published a dizzying array of no less than fourteen varied, unique, and compelling tracks created entirely with the Soma Pulsar-23.

I’ve been watching these videos with absolute fascination and have to say, hats off, it’s hugely inspiring to see.

There are 14 videos in total, and I have found the breadth of sound and rhythm presented here using this unique 4-voice machine to be quite spectacular.

I strongly recommend pre-ordering the full collection of tracks on his Bandcamp page.

Sometimes limiting yourself to a single machine can be the best way to progress your skills. It can be all too easy as an electronic musician to fall into the trap of “if I just had this or that machine or effect, then I’d be able to make better music”.

I’m currently engaged in a similar type of project under my Ebauche moniker, exploring the Bastl Thyme digital tape machine in-depth as an instrument in its own right.

Perhaps following on from our earlier collaboration on the Opposing Forces compilation, TÆT and I should do something together which is similarly restricted 😊
